How did fan idol Robert Pattinson prepare to leave his Twilight persona in the dust as Jacob the circus animal doctor in Water For Elephants?
"As soon as you set foot on the desert where the set was, you were transported to the era of the 1930′s," he says. "So it was very easy to lose yourself, it didn't take so much preparation. I did watch a lot of Gary Cooper movies just to get the body language of that era, because he had a similar frame as mineI also watched a great documentary about the Depression called Brother Can You Spare Me a Dime?"
But what about the circus itself?
"I really really like the fast food at circuses, I'm a big fan of hot dogs," he jokes. "Seriously, I've only been to a circus once in my life: my sister told me the clown died when they did a stunt. I was only like 7 years old, so I freaked out when she said that. When she was 29 she told me that she made it up. But I was always knew that circus life is like a whole other world."
Its great to see Pattinson laughing, making eye contact and much more relaxed than his brooding shyness in our earlier encounters. Is he more comfortable around women in general now? What changed him? Is it the female elephant or the female fans? He laughs.
"Oh definitely the female elephant. The female elephant seems more logical. She likes peppermints and she'll do some tricks for me for peppermints. The female fans? I don't really know how they think at all!"
Water For Elephants is a huge departure for the young star, but he has other exciting non-vampire projects in the works as well. Besides the two Twilight Saga movies –Breaking Down Part 1 due to be released this year, Breaking Dawn - Part 2 in 2012, we'll also have a chance to see Rob in Bel Ami later this year and David Cronenberg's Cosmopolis next year. What kind of role would you most like to see him play?

Robert Pattinson Dishes On Being Intimidated By Reese Witherspoon

Robert Pattinson sat down with our Erin Cebula to chat about what it was like filming "Water For Elephants" with Reese Witherspoon.
And when she asked whether he was more intimated by the 9,000 pound elephant named Rosey or Reese, he said: "Actually definitely Reese."

Reese Witherspoon's March 26 wedding to agent Jim Toth was one of the most talked about events of 2011 so far, and the actress spilled details on how it feels to have her private life in the public spotlight.
"I think you don't really understand why people are interested in you or your life or your personal life, but I gave up trying to figure out a long time ago," Reese told "The Insider" co-host Kevin Frazier. "And now it really is like a gift in my life. I feel like I'm always met with a lot of positive energy and people wanting to hug me or feel good about me."
Reese stars in 'Water for Elephants' alongside Robert Pattinson, playing a married woman who engages in a love affair with Robert, who plays a circus animal caretaker. The two have a few steamy love scenes, but the actors leaked that it may not have been as sexy as it seemed.
"I never had a love scene with a person that sick in my entire life," said Reese. "He was like infectiously ill."
In addition to Robert's unhealthy state, Reese also had to contend with the general dirtiness of the set while filming in the desert, but she had no complaints.
"It was very authentic," said Reese. "It was very much like the Dust Bowl and California in the 1930s... The privilege and the opportunity of getting to make a movie that's so interesting - you know, movies don't come along like this very often - and it's just such a great story."
'Water for Elephants' stampedes into theaters April 22.

Twihards, your call to action for retribution and justice has come. And, the call, by the way, is coming from none other than Robert Pattinson.
When MTV News caught up with "Twilight" star Pattinson on Sunday, a hot topic was those leaked "Breaking Dawn" photos that hit the Web (and were swiftly taken down), and the star was obviously fuming mad about the whole thing.
"It's just ridiculous. I literally can't believe that it happened," Pattinson said regarding the photos, which show his character, Edward, and Bella (Kristen Stewart) on their honeymoon and Bella going through what appears to be her vampire transformation.
Pattinson, who said he wanted to speak to us about the leaked pictures "because MTV seemed like the right place to do it," immediately asked for help from the series' most hard-core — and equally ticked-off — fans.
"I want the 'Twilight' troops to mobilize, all the good fans, and find out who these little sh--s are and just hack into their computers and destroy them," RPattz said with a laugh, later adding, "I'm being genuinely serious, 'Twilight' fans ... Punish them."
In fact, the 24-year-old star — who is promoting his latest flick, the period drama "Water for Elephants" — then asked Twihards to do him another favor while they are bringing down the culprits: "Find out who hacked into my e-mail address, too, and destroy them," he urged.
