Corporations aplenty are investing millions of dollars in social gaming, casual experiences delivered through the likes of Facebook and other platforms. The market may be ripe for potential right now, but will it last? What's the long-term value? Silicon Knights president and Too Human producer Denis Dyack isn't a believer. He feels the social market is headed for a major crash.

"It is damaging traditional gaming for sure but… how it's going to work out is anyone's guess. The trend that I see is it's probably going to be one of the biggest bubbles and explosions that our industry's seen in a long time and I think when it crashes it's going to crash very hard," Dyack told IndustryGamers. He added, "I don't think there's an economy there."

Further, Dyack added that he feels the amount of capital going into social gaming right now looks "very dangerous." While social upstart Zynga is ranking in millions of dollars in revenue, Dyack has a hunch that the breakout success won't last long-term.

"I think Zynga's valuated more than some traditional publishers right now that have been in the industry for decades. I'm sorry, but I just don't see it. It seems imaginary to me… it doesn't look long term healthy to me."

Is the social gaming space headed for doom, or will it continue to flourish? Only time will tell, but as of right now, it shows no signs of stopping.
